The last time I embarked on a crafting venture, I ruined a wardrobe of perfectly good t-shirts (still bitter..). And whilst most people cite crafting as a relaxing hobby, for me it tends to have the opposite effect and I end up stabbing myself trying to thread the needle before I've even started.
Hillary's Blind's invited me to a 'Crafternoon' at Ziferblat in the Northern Quarter so, in trepidation, I ventured along.
Our lovely teacher from The Crafty Hen guided us through the afternoon of jewellery box making, glue guns and all. Whilst experienced crafters may have scoffed at our simple, fabric covered boxes, us novices were quite proud of our Blue Peter - esque efforts! Using some gorgeous floral fabrics from Hillary's new Jewel range, we even rolled little dividers for inside.
After a cake and coffee stop, we embarked on sewing 'Suffolk Puffs,' nope, I didn't have a clue either.
It's a round of fabric that you sew around the edge and then pull until it all bunches up. Whilst bloggers around me were whizzing through dozens of the things, it took me 3 attempts just to get my one pathetic attempt to stay together. I saw some extremely impressive ones pinned on the headbands but unfortunately, my lopsided keyring couldn't compete.
Whilst I loved the experience I think I'll stick to less fiddly hobbies in future..
Thank you Hillary's for a lovely afternoon!
