A vegetarian goes to a meat festival..

I was invited by Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum to Grillstock, a foodie festival in Albert Square promising a celebration of meat and music. Let's get one awkward thing out of the way, I don't eat meat. So, with my carnivorous fiancé in tow we braved the looming clouds and followed the smell of smoky BBQ's.

The heaving square featured endless food vans, Brew Dog, Sailor Jerry and Jack Daniels bars and a main stage for the weekend's acts.

I stopped in my tracks when I saw the Churro's Amigos stand  and may have single handedly eaten nine of their amazing churros. Trust me, I felt them making their way to my hips.

There were various food contests throughout the day, including hot dog and stomach churning chilli eating competitions.

My amazing halloumi and mushroom burger..

Weber barbequeues hosted a series of how to sessions on the best uses for a BBQ. Fortunately for me, we attended the delicious rum-soaked banana bread demonstration.

Musical entrepreneur Levi Roots, of Dragons Den fame entertained with reggae hits and the song that made him millions.

Grandmaster Flash rounded off the evening before everyone waddled home, two stone heavier than when they arrived..
